i i { i j : } i € : i i i t L $ THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM JUL 2 1 1986 TO: B. Kirk July 11, 1986 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Parking on Cornwall Avenue - Public Works Committee - July 8, 1986 Recommendation: That parking be prohibited along the east side of Cornwal | Drive adjacent to Evergreen Park as shown on the attached sketch. Background and Comments: Residents of Cornwall Orive have requested that the City look at the parking problem adjacent to Evergreen Park. Parking for organized team sports in the park takes place on street all around the park. This type of parking is always undesirable because of the danger of a child running off the playground between parked cars and being obscured from drivers on the street. Unfortunately there is no alternative parking avallable at Evergreen Park. The parking along Cornwall itself ts not only dangerous but Its also Inconvenient to the residents of the street because the street not wide enough for two lanes of traffic plus two lanes of parking. Although the Committee recognizes that on busy days some of this parking might be diverted to other residential streets, the Committee has agreed to the elimination of parking on the portion of Cornwall adjacent to the park fin order to Improve the safety for children and remove the bottleneck for the residents.
