C 0 U i C THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY oF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM APR 3.0 1979 TO: Mayor and Council April 24th, 1979 > FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held April L7th, 1979, . ; IN ATTENDANCE; Alderman P.F, Ranger Alderman J.J. Keryluk F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer ITEM I Re: Speed Bump in Lane Behind Star Furniture The Committee had previously considered and rejected a request for removal of the speed bunps from the lane directly behind the old Star Furniture Building. This item was brought The Committee reconsidered the argument and also the fact that speed bumps in a commercial lane cause problems with vehicles carrying fragile goods. However, the Committee does not recommend the removal of the speed bump because of the across the lane. ITEM II Re: Removal of No Parking Signs from the 1600 Block Langan Avenue At the present time, the north Side of the 1600 Block Langan Avenue is restricted for Parking between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday. This restriction was apparently put in place because of the difficulty that large vehicles haa in turning out of driveways from the industrial properties. There is a severe shortage of parking available along this street and in talking with the industries, there is a strong feeling that the parking should be allowed with the exception of a short length of the Street between driveways on 1603 Langan. Access to the above address would be affected if parking were allowed in that section, However, the remainder of Langan Avenue could have parking permitted without any detrimental affeot to the industries.
