Re: Library Headquarters Building

the Board of Management has not been successful this
. year in cbtaining funds from the Provincial Government to
construct a new library headquarters building although it
‘had high hopes of doing so. The Board now plans to apply
in’ the near future for government Support for next year
and at a recent meeting approved a brief to be sent to
the Library Development Commission.

The Board was encouraged and heartened earlier this
year at Council's decision to share in the construction
cost of the proposed building. In expressing its appre-
ciation, the Board realizes that it will need Council's
support again in submitting a fresh application and would

, ask Council therefore to include in its estimates for
1977 an amount equal to the amount approved for 1976.
This was $7,790 and amounts to .93 per cent of the
total.

Would Council please consider this matter and advise.
The Library Board, being unable to either borrow funds
for capital purposes or to raise funds by referendum, is
relying on Council for assistance.
