THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT coourTtam MEMO TO: LARRY POLLOCK, CITY ADMINISTRATOR FROM: ANNA TAYLOR, RECREATION DIRECTOR August 22,.1975, TVEM T: ROBERT HOPE SCHOOL SWIM PROGRAM In Nay of this year the Letsumme Activities Committee came to Councth with a recommendation that the School Swim Paognam for 1975 be continued as the tndoor pook had not been competed; Counctl approved the recommendation. Due to the fact that the dndoor pook was going to Aun gor twelve month a year, it was Council's thoughts Last year that the achook - progaan could be handled by the dndoor pool. This, therefore, would mean that the indoor pooks eaould open in July of each year Aatner than May. However, it 45 apparent from the attached Letter that certain schools would not benefit from the use of the indoor poo, This Letter has been disaudsdsed with ALderxman Mabbett and Mayor Campbel2 and the concensus of opinion was that the school program for Robert Hope should be continued for 1976 and that monies be placed in the 1976 Provisional budget to cover cosis of the program. AS I am unable to contact Aldewnan Mabbett, could the folLowing be brought to Council's attention on August 25th, 1975: “ITEM IT: INDOOR POOL ADMISSION RATES Attached 44 a survey of Lower mainland indoor pook xates. At the May 15th, 1975 Counctl meeting a reconmendation on subsidizing was presented to councté and accepted. In reeping with this poltey of subsidization, the following nates are recommended for publica ‘admission of the new indoor swimming pool, However, tt should be brought to Counci£'s attention that it is somewhat difficult to gauge the communities! response to public swimming and we may have to revise the rates ina few months. The subfect on tndoor pool nates has not, been discussed wich the Leisure Activities Comnittee, however, due to the gact that the pook xs scheduled to open an September 2nd, 1975, the nates should be considered by counci£ on August 25th, 1975. Thanking you {or your consideration.
