Airline forgets equipment again It seems to be’ normal pro- cedure to leave hockey teams’ equipment at Vancouver airport -when the squad flies to Kitimat for exhibition junior ‘B’ games, That’s the feeling among members of the Kitimat Black- hawks team following a second incident Nov. Canadian Airlines International: On the Nov. 6 weekend, Es- quimalt Legion, flew into Kit- imat minus all their hockey gear. It had been left at the Vancouver terminal instead of being loaded on the plane for Terrace-Kitimat airport. This faux pas led to one of a two-game series being called off, and the loss of several hundred dollars in revenue from the game. The Blackhawks got a sympathetic ear from Kitimat council, which loaned the team $2,500 to offset the loss. The Hawks, meanwhile, are seeking compensation from ‘CAL... The latest incident took place with New Westminster Royals’ trip to Kitimat for two games. They arrived with all equipment — except sticks. This allowed the opening game to be played. The lost sticks turned up on the next day’s flight in time for - game two. Hockey officials at Kitimat are waiting with bated breath for the next team to arrive just f. before Christmas. With a threat of mass resigna- tion, Youth Soccer called a se- cond gathering for Dec. 1. That meeting attracted 43 people plus the current executive. Pro-tem president Don Highe said the turnout was most reas- suring, as they elected a new group to run the league for 1988. Highe, Martha Haugland and -Bev Bujtas were returned as members of the 10-person group. Newcomers are Ron Fleming, Ernie Kuehne, Rose Stevenson, Norah Phillips, Car- men Bell, Blaine Kluss and Doug Boys.
