Chong DATE: November 8, 1994 City Administrator FROM: J, Maitland Treasurer/Deputy Administrator SUBJECT: Community Youth Resources and Services Guide Budget & Administration Committee Meeting - November 3/94 RECOMMENDATION: That the City pay $863.78 towards the cost of printing additional copies of the Youth Guide. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: Attached is a copy of a letter which was sent to the City in mid-July from the Joint Family Court Committee. The Joint Family Court Committee is a tri-cities committee composed of some citizens as well as reps from each of the tri-cities communities. The committee in june, ordered, received, and the City of Port Moody paid for, some 2,000 additional copies of the Youth Guide. The thought was that they would raise some funds from service groups etc, to pay for the extra printing. They have not raised any additional funds. esl The City of Port Moody is out of pocket and is asking that we share in the cost of the additional printing based on the Simon Fraser cost sharing formula. Which would result in the cost shares as indicated. It is my understanding that Coquitiam has offered to pay approximately $900 of the cost. _ The committee appears to have overstepped their mandate, however, it would not seem reasonable to leave Port Moody holding the bag. I would suggest that we kick in our share of the cost. Funds could be reallocated from within our Protective Services budget for this. . Maitland _ JM/ms Attachment
