RE: 1993 Voters’ List
RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Clerk be instructed to arrange for the Provincial Voters’ List to be used for the
civic elections.

BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:

Although the elections are some months away the use of the Provincial Voters’ List requires
staff time for preparation of technical specifications to ensure availability as required. The cost
of obtaining the Provincial list is approximately $300.00. The City used the Provincial Voters
List at the 1990 election which brought our registered voters from 9,011 in 1988 to 19,037 in
1990.

Updating the list in this fashion would speed up the process at the polling stations and, naturally
people would still have the opportunity to register on polling day.
