TO: MAYOR AND ALDERMEN September 2th, 1972. FROM: THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE item I Re: Sign By-law Revisions. Comments: The attached by-law revisions are submitted for discussions. In essence the major changes are: Freestanding signs are removed from all zones axcept CS-1, CS-2 and CS-3 zones. Rotating Signs are removed from all zones. Projecting Signs excluding an awning sign, camopy sign, facia sign and same roof signs are removed from all zones, The remainder of the changes are tydying up clauses, renumber and removing references to sections which do not exist, Recommendation: The Committee recommends approval of the revisions as per the attached changes. Item II Re: Regional Plan Amendment. Comments: In both the current and long range plans the Official Regional Plan designated land east of Coast Meridian and north of the Lougheed Highway as Industrial. It has been mentioned several times that &@ Pian Amendment from Industrial to Rural should be processed. The Industrial potential south of the Lougheed is approximately 1,200 acrestand appears adequate for the City's requirements however, Regional significance should be considered, Committee Comments: It was felt the area would have little affect on the Regional picture, also designation Rural under the Official Regional Plan would maintain the land for future use Industrial or otherwise, Recommendation: The Committee recommends that a Regional Plan Amendment be processed redesignating the Industrial land north of the Lougheed to RR3 (Rural). Item IIT Re: Rezoning Application R#25-72 Address: 784 Prairie Avenue Legal: Lots 3 & 4, Blk A, S.E. 1/4, See. 6, Twp. 40, Plan 2102. Area: Two 33' X 122" lote. Zoning: A-1 Request: To rezone from A~l to RS~1. Committee Comments: The Application would require a Regivunal Plan Anendment as well as the possibility of dangerous precedent being set for development in the Agricultural Area.
