Five skiers from the Shames Mountain Ski Club attended the event, which drew 40 competi- tors from as far away as Quesnel and Williams Lake. It was the last ski weekend of the year at Ski Smithers, and local skiers used everything they had learned through- out the year to make an impressive finish. . “They did very, very well,’” says Lori Schul- meister of the club. ‘I was impressed.” Terrace’s top racer was Aaron Gingles who took fourth spot in the both the first and second Super. Courtland Sandover-Sly also did very well, win- ning Most Improved Skier for this race, and placing sixth in the first Super GS, fifth in the sec- ond, fourth in the Giant | Slalom and seventh in the Slalom, John Schuimeister earned a silver for Most Improved Skier at this race, The J2 skier was 10th in both the first and ‘second Super GS, eighth in the GS and ninth in the Slalom. And Mat LeClerc fin- ished seventh in the GS and sixth in the Slalom.
