Follow- ing’ their. marriage, ‘they moved to ‘Prince Rupert. Prospects there were slim and when _a_friend suggested - that Terrace was an ideal spot, for a. bakery, that’s where they mov- ed, They opened . the Terrace Bakery back .in 1945 at 4617 Lakelse Ave, and originated the Bluebird Bread Wrapper. ‘2[?m,, sure. many . recall, the bakery, the label and the lovely lady: who made ‘it so popular. Everyone travelled on to the old.cemetery where we took a . delightful. walk : down Floyd Frank’s nature path, Over the years Floyd has planted dif- ferent species of trees -- some native to the local area, while others came from across the province. Visitors can view. Alpine ‘Fir from. Mount Rob- son, White, Pine from Clear- water, Grand Fir from the Mis- sion area, Yellow Cedar from the coast, and White Spruce from the Houston area. Floyd Frank’s trees have now all been marked with signs ex- plaining what they are, where they came from and what year they were planted. As you walk down the historic trail, it makes you think back 83 years to May 1908, when on that same trail the Franks family — after landing by riverboat at Eby’s Landing — walked up to their home, which at that time was near the college. After our lovely walk we en- joyed lunch together and Eileen served everyone strawberry shortcake, tea and coffee.
