50 years nobedy knew that these cancer-causing chemicals were in our water supply. Now, 400 THMs have been identified. But that's not all: for chlorine and ammonia to bond together, the pH must be raised, necessitating the GVRD to dump tons of sodium carbonate into the drinking water. Sodium carbonate can overload the kidneys and also causes urinary tract infections. Those persons with kidney diseases will be at much greater risk. From London, England, the Martindale Extra Pharmacopoeia, 1989, outlines chloramine’s adverse known effects, which include: vomiting and cyanosis (circulatory collapse). Frothing at the mouth and respiratory failure can occur within a few minutes of chloramine ingestion. Fatalities have occurred. The Pharmaceutical Press of London also states that chloramine in tap water has caused methaemoglobinaemia (excessive amounts of dark brown compound in blood), and haemolysis (blood disorder) in patients undergoing dialysis. Bronchospasm (constriction of the bronchial tubes) has occurred after inhalation. In Germany, chloramine has been banned for more than 30 years. In the U.S.A., EPA will mar:date that chlorine and chloramine cannot be used on unfiltered water after 1996. 3rd Reason: THE OZONE OPTION The solution offered, besides the immediate banning of all logging in the watershed is, as the Coacemed Citizens Against Chlcramine Committee recommends, Mother Nature's best remedy: — OZONE. Ozone is a naturally occurring gas. OZONE IS NOT A POLLUTANT. It is not created from car exhaust or from an industrial process. Ozone is an ideal purification and disinfection agent. OZONE IS GENERATED WITHOUT THE USE OF CHEMICALS, AND DOES NOT ADD ANY CHEMICALS INTO THE TRE.ATED WATER. IT DOES NOT CREATE THMs. iN ITEM | PAGE |
