July 8th, 1974, Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, a discussion ensued and Alderman Laking stated he was not against welfare assistance, but felt that during the summer the employment picture changes and that as there are a good number of jobs available some of these persons may be encouraged to get back into the working force. Alderman Traboulay pointed out that the present roll of single employables amounts to less than 5% with assistance amounting to approximately $146.00 per person per month, and that these recipients are under close scrutiny by the Local Welfare Officer; however, Alderman Laking** *kamended~see stated his view that removing these persons from the roll during the summer Pe.1 Minutes- ae . . : jJuly 22/74 months would indicate to the Government how municipalités feel about indiv- iduals getting "a free ride" and that last year some of these persons did find employment. Alderman ‘Traboulay re Alderman Traboulay stated he had received a uumber of complaints again odor from sewer lagoon on the undesirable odor emanating from the sewer lagoon. Ald. Traboulay Alderman Traboulay inquired as to the progress of a report being pre- -report on leasing City-owned land pared on leasing City-owned land. Mayor Campbell advised the report is not finished as yet and that the City Administrator, who is undertaking its pre- paration, is on annual vacation for three weeks. Ald.Traboulay- Alderman Traboulay referred to a previous recommendation of the Council reducing sideyards on 33' lots to reduce sideyards on 33' lots, and the City Clerk advised this is presently being considered by the Planning Officer. The Planning Officer advised that he has the amendment nearly ready for consideration by Council. Ald. Traboulay- Alderman Traboulay referred to identification of 33’ lots, and the identification of 33' lots Planning Officer advised he had not started on that project as yet. Ald.Traboulay- Alderman Traboulay advised he had some information available on stump information re stump burning burning and he passed it on to Alderman Mabbett who is presently studying that problem.
