JANUARY—FEBRUARY, 1974 THE WESTERN CANADIAN LUMBER WORKER LOCAL 1 71 WAGE | AND CONTRACT. CONFERENCE Local 1-71 (Loggers’ Local) was the first of the coast IWA Local Unions to hold their Local Wages & Contract Conference. The meeting held in late December was attended by approximately 90 delegates and visitors. During the day, the Conference dealt with 364 resolutions submitted by the Sub-Locals. The resolutions were debated by the delegates until 27 remained. These were submitted by the Local to the broad Regional wage conference held January 31, and February 1-2, at Woodworkers’ House, Vancouver. GUEST SPEAKER at the Conference Regional President Jack Munro promised the delegates that with the help of the membership he was going to build the Regional Council into an effective force well able to provide even better wages and working conditions for all woodworkers throughout Western Canada.
