July, 1987 7 872-1125 Test Pic 87-16 located to the northwest of Traverse Potne 20 encouncered approximately 1 m of loose sand fill overlying loose to compact, native sands and gravels. Adjacent to the ravine to the east and south of Test Pit 87-16, the fill may have local thicknesses greater than lm as a result of fill berms and oversize boulders in the area. 4.0 SITE PREPARATION AND DEVELOPMENT CRITERIA 4... Area 1 ~ Parkland We understand that this area is to consist primarily of landscaped parkland. [t is also understood that consideration is being given to the development of a proposed tennis court and several ancillary, lightly loaded structures as well as a paved parking facility as part of the overall park development. The resuits of the soil investigation indicate that the entire area with the exception of a small zone in the extreme northern corner cf the site is underlain by deep random fills consisting of organic material, Ssilc and sand with some gravel and occasional cobbles and construction debris. The fill is generally in a loose state and was likely placed without concrol. The fill can be expected to vary significantly in thickness across the parkland area and ic is likely mhac there will be considerable local variations in both fill thickness and compaction. In addition, while some of the fill has been in place for several years or more, additional tecenct filling has been carried out over “A” significant portion of the site. Ie is also likely thar additional fill placement will be required to achieve the desired grades for park purposes. Based on these subsurface conditions, the proposed parkland area can be expected co be subject to significant and continuing settlements Qe me Golder Associates
