DISCUSSION: The following is a response to Councils concerns: Additional access off of Pitt River Road. This issue was dealt with by the Public Works Committee at its meeting of April 7, 1992. The Committee recommends that the existing access over the GVS & DD sewer force main (created at great expense) be retained as the access to the subdivision. An access from Pitt River Road would require the City to create a right-of-way. Schooling in the Area. It should be noted that all major residential proposals are sent to the Coquitlam School District so that they are aware of development trends in the City. School District staff also liaise with Planning Department Staff to obtain current population and development statistics in order to anticipate future enrollment and classroom needs. Wai sespect to availability of schooling in the Shaughnesay/Pitt River Road area, the School District noted that Central Elementary is presently at capacity. On-site portable classrooms are being used to accommodate extra classes. School District staff further informed Planning Staff of their plens for re-organization of schools in the area to allievate enrollment pressures. Over the next three years, the two elementary schools in the area, Central and Mary Hill, may have less grades (and there: sre more capacity) as there are plans to convert Mary Hill Junior Secondary School to a middle school, and also to build a new middle school in the southside. A location for a new senior secondary school in Port Coquitlam is also being contemplated, Daycare The developer has no plans to operate a daycare in this proposed complex at thie time. The non-market townhouse complex at 2435 Lobb Avenue contains a daycare that is aponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion. The Legion had requested authorization from Council to operate a daycare in the community building of the complex. The City agreed to a daycare as long as it served only children living in the complex. An agreement between the City and the Legion Housing Society was drawn up by the Municipal Solicitor to restrict the daycare from receiving children from outside the complex. roel
