SUBJECT: Road Improvements — Westwood, Davies and For Street

Recommendation:

That Council approve the concept plan for road improvements in the Westwood,
Fox, and Davies area to accommodate the traffic from present and future
developments.

Background & Comments:

The attached plan shows the following road improvements in the Westwood,
Davies, and Fox Street area:

1. Curb and gutter and road upgrading on Westwood between Davies and
Shaftabury, on Davies. between Westwood and Raleigh, and on Fox from
Davies to Shaftsbury.

2. Fox Street: to be closed: at Shaftsbury and a cul~de-sac to be
provided at the north end of Fox Street.

3. Traffic algnals to be installed at Westwood and Davies.

It is felt that these road improvements were required to accommodate traffic
from present development and also to accommodate traffic from the proposed
commercial/milti-family project located north of Davies, west of Fox and east
of Westwood. It is noted that the developer would be required, as part of the
normal development approval process, to construct his share of the road
improvementse In particular, the developer would be required to upgrade
Westwood, Davies, and Fox Street for the portions of the street fronting the
development, plus pay a portion of the cost for the installation of the
traffic signals.
