THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM Mr. B.R. Kirk September 01, 1989 city Administrator W. Brown Director of Planning RE: Economic Development Project RECOMMENDATIONS : THAT Council authorize the Planning Department to proceed to make arrangements to host a Mayor's Meeting for local businesses. COMMENTS: This project is part of the department's community promotion work for 1989. What is proposed is to host an informal meeting for local businesses with the Mayor. The idea comes from a session held by Mayor Campbell of Vancouver for businesses there. Purpoose of the meeting is a combination of a gesture of recognition to the local business community and an opportunity to identify some of the dissatisfiers with in the City's operation for the business community. What is to be achieved by the meeting is to reinforce the feeling in the business community that Port Coquitlam is 4 good place to be. It is hoped the meeting would lead a business considering relocating to stay. It will provide a source of positive feeling for business operators to extend to others considering locating in Port Coquitiam. W. Brown Director of Planning There are sufficient monies with in the Planning Department's Economic Development Programme Budget to carry out this project , based on Planners estimate of $1,500. "
