The visibility on both approaches to this crosswalk is good. The location of the wooden utility poles in front of the curbs does not have much of an effect on ebstructing the driver's view of the crosswalk. £. Although the crosswalk Warning signs at the edge of the road are Clearly visible, it is possible that they may be obstructed should a large truck be parked next to it. A justification therefore exists to implement a No Parking Restriction Zone next to these signs. Prairie and Toronto Intersection a. Again, due to the available number of gaps in the traffic pedestrians do not have difficulty crossing the road at this intersection. The installation of a pedestrian actuated Signal light is not justifiable at this time. dD. During our field observations, it was apparent that because of the available gaps in the traffic and the convenience, a large number of George Pearkes school students cross Prairie at Ulster instead of Toronto. Alderman Laking reported that it has been brought to his attention that a large number of wheel-chaired residents have difficulty crossing Prairie at Toronto. In order not to have to detour to Coast Meridian or Regina where crosswalks exist, they would like to have a crosswalk established at Toronto for their convenience. The Committee felt that this request is reasonable. The approximate cost for painting a crosswalk and the installation of the necessary warning signs is $600.
