THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM SSS, fs MEMORANDUM B.R. Kirk DATE: November 8, 1989 City Administrator W. Brown Director of Community Planning Planning Grant for 1989 That City Council authorize the Planning Department to apply to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs to carry over the grant application made in 1988. This application is to start work that was intended to be done last year, but was cancelled due to extra information requiremente that could not be met. BACKGROUND: The Planning Department applied for and received a grant under the provincial government's comprehensive planning programme in 1988. Terms of reference for the project were prepared and consultants interviewed for the project. In the process of interviewing consultants, it became evident that additional information about costs for drainage would be required. As this work had aot been budgeted, the project was delayed. Work done on the project was limited to gathering background data and some preliminary analysis. COMMENTS : This project is viewed as being very important for the City's future growth. The study is about the next growth area in the City and is to provide a mechanism for the City to examine the various fiscal methods available to provide service for development. Essentially, the project will provide a set of tools for City staff to use to combine engineering, finance and land use planning considerations. Value of this is for preparing growth plans for the City and examining proposals for development. City Council's adoption of the resolution is recommended so that a request can be forwarded to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs requesting extension of the project one year.
