MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and Council FROM: Alderman M.R. Wright At the March 5th, 1979 regular meeting of Council, a request from the Family Division Committee for Budget Approval was referred to the Budget Committee of Council. This item was not specifically dealt with at the March 12th, 1979 Budget meeting, however, this particular item is included in Account Number 221910, which is the account which included the special Police programme for Family Services and totalled $34,000. Council deferred decision on this particular account until the next Budget meeting. The Family Division Committee's request is for approval of a total budget of $800. and removal of a limitation that permits them to spend only $100. per time without prior Municipal Council approval. The City of Port Moody and the District ef Coquitlam have both approved the request of the Committee. In the case of Coquitlam, the resolution is to remove any limitation on expenditure for the Committee. In view of the fact that the City's share of the Budget will only be about $200. would Council consider a resolution of approval so that the Family Division Committee can conclude their Budget plans for the year. The specific recommendation of the Committee was as follows: a) Each member of Municipal Council approval a total budget of $800.00 for 1979, based on the Simon Fraser Cost Sharing Formula. b) That the Committee be allowed to expend up to an amount of $200. per time, without prior Municipal Council approval within the projected budget. I would reconmend that recommendations a) and b) be given approval.
