GENERAL COMMENTS ON LOCAL CRIMINAL AND DRUG ACTIVITIES:

During the month of March, extensive investigation vasa
carried out into two murders, one of which has since been established
to have occurred in the Port Moody area and further investigation ia
being carried out by that police force and some asaistance is given
from this office if required. ‘The other Murder, that of Eileen FUNK
occurred at Riverview and investigation is now almost completed. ‘The
suspect is a patient of Riverview Hospital and investigation has been
centered at that institution with the co-operation of officials there.

During tls month there were two armed robberies, one at
Soupe’s Market and the other at 711 situated on Austin Avenue. We
believe both vere committed by the same man and in thiz regard tha

main suspect has appeared in Court at Burnaby and entered a plea of
Guilty to one of the two robberies.

The drug situation certainly is much better with the
increased enforcement during the month of Pebruary, and the arrest
of two main traffickers during the early part of Harch. Increased
enforcement will be continued and it would seem it is having the
desired effect since in several instances our locals have not been
able to obtain heroin without going into New Westminster and Vancouver.

The breakirg and enterings particularly breaking and
entering with regard to dwelling houses, has not shown any appreciable
decrease, however with the successes experienced during the month of
February, we are hopeful of instituting similar action in dealing with
this type of offence.

regard to operating bicycle at night without a light.
