For the people who have had a chance to perform in front of an audience, they know what the _ undescribable natural high is like. It’s the feeling you get after successfully completing a perfor- mance. All the time spent has been paid off with a gratifying response from the audience. You are respected by the audience and your original feeling of nervousness has disappeared when you have come a long way from the days you thought you'd never have your lines memorized. Not only have you achieved your goal, however. You have learned many things and gained even more. Your fellow actors, with whom you’ve worked are now new friends. You have gained self-confidence and some very useful experience. Any previous feelings of shyness have now been threatened by your ac- complishment. You have learned how to speak openly and how to keep yourself organized. You’ve worked well with others and strived with them to reach your goal. And that’s just a start! The benefits of drama, theatre arts or acting are many. Almost everyone has at one time or another pictured themselves on the stage or on the other side of the television screen. Right there, you’re using your imagination and that is a key to good acting. Acting also gives you the chance to express yourself. Many peo- - ple who haven’t thought of joining an acting program would ac- tually like it very much. Almost everyone is capable and everyone should give it some thought. LETTERS: I would like to see activities such as kick boxing, Tae Qwan Do and Karate in town. Can you help? (G.C.) You're right. This sounds like a pretty good selection but perhaps there’s a reader out there interested in starting a new club. The Teen Scotts corner DURING SPRING BREAK: ee es Se wom FINDING SOMETHING TO DO hasn't been a problem for these guys lately -- they’ re the Avco Jets bantam hockey team. I do anyway but I don’t see any reason why they can’t say "yes" once in a while. Can you please tcii them these movies are no different than what’s on TV. A: You have a few options but first:a couple of question for you. Do your parents let you watch anything and everything that hap- pens to be on TV? And, if not, do you know why they don’t? Some parents feel quite justified in say- ing "no" to "R" rated movies but if you're convinced they’re no differ- ent than what they let you watch at home perhaps you have a legit- imate beef. If talking doesn’t get Poll: what about the rules, and is there enough to do here? LAST “WEEK: Should” teens be’ allowed to make their own rules?
