Members of the Church indicated that no suitable alternate location could be found as they had considered this possibility at an earlier date, Reference was made to an earlier proposal to construct a higher density (strata townhouse) type development, however, as the Council had been opposed to such a development a few years ago, this was not pursued at this time. OO The RS~1A (40' frontage Single-family Residential) subdivision was considered in order to conform more closely with the existing surroundings which are primarily 33' frontage residences, however, difficulties in land acquisition by the Developer have stopped the proceedings at this stage and it is therefore the intent of the Church to request rezoning for the existing site and proceed with construction of a new building and perhaps, at a later date, suitable land exchanges can be arranged to permit a TORT ee oer dentate ab reine ne ce suitable subdivision to proceed. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the rezoning Application R#11-78 to rezone the Remainder of Lot 4, Block H, District Lot 466, Flan 10715 and the South One-half of Lot 2, Block H, District Lot 466, Plan 10715 from RS-1 (Single-Family Residential) to P-2 (Special Institutional) advance to Public Hearing. Carried, Aldermen Ranger and Wright voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the resolution stated above, Aldermen Ranger and Wright advised that in their opinion the proposal should first proceed to Public Information Meeting. Alderman Traboulay and other Council members advised that as the proposal merely made an existing use conforming, the proposal could proceed directly to Public Hearing. Alderman Ranger then advised that as the rezoning of land was involved, along with a reconstruction of the church building, the residents of the area should not be denied the right to attend a Public Information Meeting. Mcy 11/79 re parking lot the Parking Area at the Shopping Centre at Shaughnessy and Lougheed. / Shaughnessy & | Lougheed Alderman Wright further explained that the report was in response to an enquiry at an earlier Council meeting as to whether a Parking Agreement should be implemented with owners of the shopping centre and pointing out that the plan in question appears to be a preliminary plan only and there is nothing that can be done in this regard.
