City retail ' this evening concerning the circumstances surrounding purchases made for the ~
outlets

Alderman Thompson referred to a request from Alderman Traboulay earlier

Recreation Department from firms outside the City, and stated he felt the.
point was a valid one, in view of the fact. that he had observed some 45. items
‘purchased from non-City retail outlets other than for Recreation. The City.
. Administrator advised that Department Heads may not at all times be aware .
of exactly where items are purchased; however, where possible, purchases are
made from local firms... Alderman. Thompson inquired whether or not the City's
Purchasing Agent. has time to obtain comparable costs, and the City Adminis~~
trator advised he. probably would; although there is always the problem of
emergency purchases, particularly in-the case-of the Recreation Department
‘over weekends. His Worship the Mayor commented that in perusing copies of

outgoing correspondence, he had observed that tenders are called on many of

the items: purchased.
