As approved by Council, I attended the 36th Annual Conference of the Canadian Federation of Mayors & Municipalities in Charlottetown from June 4th to 7th, 1973. As I am sure most Council members are aware of the fact, I will only confirm reports that the Convention this year over~emphasized the social aspects associated with conventions of this type. I attach a copy of the schedule of events which shows exactly how the programme was scheduled. Many of the sessions were very dull, poorly chaired, and the attendance 7 was light. However, on the.more positive side, delegates themselves realized the faults of the Convention and strongly urged that the format be revised and were assured by the incoming Executive that this would be done. Upon my return to Port Coquitlam this week, I received a printed questionnaire from the Federation requesting my views in reviewing the organiza- tion and format of the Conference. 5 I most certainly will reply to the questions, hopefully giving my remarks om a constructive, critical basis.
