Popping up all over YOU MAY have noticed the wonderful aroma of pop- cori in the air at the market. If you follow your nose it will lead you to the Austin’s specially popcom stand. The Austin family pop- com venture began with a theatre popper they received as a Christmas gift. To re- order popcorn supplies they had to contact a relative in Saskatchewan. No one in Terrace was selling popcorn supplies. That is when they decided to look into becoming pop- com representatives them- selves. It was a decision the whole family had to be cammitted to, as both parents work out of the home, full time. At first Heather Austin felt awkward about pushing a product. She doesn’t see herself as a high pressure sales person. However, the combination of a good pra- duct and company and the interaction with customers has sparked an interest in distributing the product. In the world of snack foods, popcorn is a good healthy choice, It's low in sugar and high in fibre. It’s economical and convenient. Thal’s how they started out, but since the partics slow down in the summer, they thought they’d try their luck at the market. Heather feels this was a very good move for their business, It’s an opportunity for people to try the product for . the first time and it’s also a convenient reminder for customers to Testock.
