Highways probes
northwest opinion

REGIONAL HIGHWAYS of-
ficials are soon to find out
what northwest residents think
of the job they’re doing.

-It’s happening through an
eight-page survey mailed to
3,800 homes and businesses in
the northwest. .

It asks for rankings on high-
way quality, why some sec-
tions are considered better
quality than others and where
and what improvements could
be made.

But it also asks for opinions
on the kind of road condition
information available through
the ministry or the various pri-
vate maintenance companies.

The idea is to give highway
officials a complete picture of
northwest attitudes and
opinions, says survey co-
ordinator Edith Wong.

She needs nearly 900
returned surveys for an ade-
quate sample size and as of
late last week, had tabulated
results from more than 400.

dents a chance to put their aca-
demic training to practical use.

of highway shoulder markings
during bad weather.

Highway 37 between Ter-
race and Kitimat was one of
three test locations across the
province.

Wider lines were laid down
as were reflective glass beads.
