a A AD apa yamaha Rn 9 py, NB lil COMMUNIST PARTY MAY DAY MESSAGE UNITE! DEFEND JOBS, N this May Day 1975, Canadian workers are voicing their de- mands for an end to layoffs, for an end to monopoly price-fixing and profiteering, for a roll-back of prices and profits, a curb of monopoly and the multi-national cor- - porations which are the chief culprits behind galloping inflation, and for a policy of full empoyment as a right for every Canadian. In resolutions, meetings, demonstra- tions and every form of mass-action, in- cluding strikes, working people reject the concept of any and all so-called “equality-of-sacrifice” to help solve an economic crisis for which the working people bear no responsibility. Today we are living in a world where the forces of peace and of socialism are advancing, while the forces of imperial- ism and war are being pushed back, isolated and defeated. This reality makes it an urgent necessity for Can- ada to reassess both domestic and fore- ign.policy in conformity with this new reality. Both present and future needs of Canadians demand a complete rever- sal of national policy in economic, social and political spheres. The Communist Party, mindful of the fact that capitalist monopoly domina- tion, both foreign ‘as well as domestic, constitutes a block to economic and social progress, works for an alliance of all anti-monopoly forces here at home and for solidarity with the forces of peace, progress and socialism abroad. Canada must stand four square for detente and against those who advoc- ate cold war and confrontation. It must go all out in support of the peoples striving for national and social libera- tion. ity— e the working class must go all out in pledges of support to the heroic peo- ples of South Vietnam and Cambodia and see that medical supplies, food and clothing are sent them e the working class must strengthen the campaign for. the release of Luis Corvalan and all other political prison- ers in Chile, and join hands with the peoples everywhere to bring about the defeat of the military junta e the working class must pledge so- lidarity support to the people of Por- tugal and tell NATO and U.S. imperial- ism — Hands Off Portugal! e the working class must raise its voice for an end to racism, apartheid, and anti-semitism, and for the right of peoples everywhere to develop their own resources and determine their own destiny without outside interference. On this day of international solidar- RADE UNION RIGHTS! _ expense of the muli-national corpora- Not least, in face of the power of the multi-national corporations the work- ing-class and trade union movement on a worldwide scale must strengthen their unity and cooperation in every way. e May Day 1975 finds a powerful and growing trade union movement engag- ed in a struggle to: a) defeat the mono- poly offensive on living standards, on jobs and on trade union rights; b) ensure that the fruits of technological change accrue to the working people in the form of jobs for all, economic sec- urity and a better life: c) redistribute the national income in favor of working people who produce all wealth, at the tions and the wealthy. United economic action must be com- bined with united political action based ; on cooperation between the New Demo- cratic Party and the Communist Party toward the end of curbing monopoly power through nationalization of the commanding heights of the economy, including natural resources, energy, transportation, communications, banks and national credit. Forward to Canadian independence, international solidarity with the forces of peace, democracy and _ socialism, toward a socialist Canada. : Central Executive Committee, Communist Party of Canada PACIFIC TRIBUNE—FRIDAY, APRIL 25, 1975—Page 5
