To be held at Jonnie Rankin’s home. 3570 Hull St. Details to come. In the race between failure and vic- tory, we’re down to the home stretch. For the Tribune annual fundraising drive, that is. In looking at what’s been achieved to date, and what there is left- to go, it appears we might be heading for a photo finish. To carry this metaphor a bit further, the drive was a bit late getting out of the Starting gate. The contributions were slow coming in, and at this point — with only 15 days until our Victory Banquet June 20 — we have somewhat more than $50,000 in so far, on a target of $98,000. That figure represents a redoubled effort, the kind we’ve been desperately calling for these past several weeks. It shows our friends and supporters have been listening to us. We’re heading into the home stretch _ Just yesterday a cheque from a reader for $1,000 to keep B.C.’s labor weekly alive and fighting in 1987 came in the mail. On Sunday, a few hundred friends turned out to the newly reconstituted labor festival, helping to fill the coffers of the financial drive while enjoying the sun, good food and fine music of one the largest fundraisers for the Tribune. But we're still short of what we had achieved at this time last year. And that wasn’t So great either. While saying that, we acknowledge that not everyone can afford big cash donations — We only ask that suppor- ters give what they can. There’s still a lot to done. Let’s dig in with our spurs and help us cross the line with seconds to spare. GREATER VANCOUVER 0 / Quota “Achieved Pence. er — | Bill Bennett 700 216 Vernon 1,600. 1.657 Burnaby 6,100 4,595 N.
