/2. March 19th, 1979. iB/L #1656 - By-law No. 1656: iCity of Pt. Coq. :Zoning B/L, 1979, To rezone Lot 41 and 42, Block "Q", District Lot 466, Group One, ‘No. 1651, Amend. iB/L, 1979. Plan 19410, New Westminster District from RS—2 (One-Family :(2860-80 Oxford) Residential) to RM-4 (Apartment Residential). The City Planner then explained the Proposed rezoning stating the property is located at 2860 and 2880 Oxford Street and was the subject of a previous Public Hearing on May 29th, 1978 with a view to approval of a Land Use Contract, these procedures were never completed. It is expected that a 12-unit townhouse Strata-title subdivision will be created following completion of the rezoning procedures. The City Planner further stated that the proposed development was to the north of MacDonald's Restaurant and that parking is to be behind the 12 residential dwelling units, with lane access. Alderman Laking stated that there is a 'For Sale' sign on the property and stated in his opinion further information should be obtained from the developer as to his plans for the site and that final reading should not be given until the developer has deposited his money for servicing with the City, the building permit issued, and the foundations have been poured. Alderman Mabbett asked for clarification of which way the lane would run and the City Planner stated the lane would run north and south and exit onto Westminster Avenue and stated it would be a paved lane. Mr. J.C. Weinberger, 1872 Westminster Avenue asked how far along Westminster Avenue would be improved and the City Engineer stated Westminster Avenue would be improved as far east as Commonwealth Street. Mr. B. Aunger, 2910 Oxford Street asked for clarification of the situation that may occur if the property were to be sold. Mayor Campbell stated that Council could withhold final reading of the by-law if it was found that the property was being sold and would be possibly used for a purpose other than that applied for under the rezoning application. At 7:45 p.m. the Public Hearing adjourned.
