My next point deals with these same streets during rush
hours. YTeople living and doing business in these areas cannot get
either in or out of their premises during thése hours, There is a
bumper to bumper stream of traffic that should be seen to be be~
lieved. These pes:;le are afraid of losing one second of time in
their effort te set where they are going. Pedestrians and local

affic have absolutely no rights at these times. The only reason
these people will eve: stop their cars is when the road is complete-
ly blocked.

They will pass on the right or lcft, sometimes even
driving for hundreds of yards on the wrong side of the street, or
on the rough dusty Shoulders, in order to et around traffic which
is stopped either for trains or for left turns. This is a hazerd=
ous Situation and must be remedied inmediately,

A Spot check of license nu.bers woul? soon verify the or-
igin and destination of the majerity of this traffic. You will find |
that a great percentage of this traffic is frum North Coquitlam,
Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge nd the Mission areas Very few of these
reople ever stop to make a purchase in our city and therefore should
be forced to remain on the Lougheed Highway in crder to reach their
destination.

Ferhags this would cause a traffic jsm which would be
large enoush to be noticed by the Provincial Highways Dept. and may
be then they weuld take some action to rewedy the situation. As
long as Fert Coquitlam provides a convenient by-pass route nothing
will be acre. 7 say to hell with the persons who live in the valley
