Re: Municipal Biennial Elections

The Council of the City of Port Mocdy has supported,
in principle, the implementation of biennial elections.

We subsequently contacted the Ministry of Municipal Affairs

and Housing relative to the regulations covering such change.

A copy of a letter dated May 9, 1978 from the Ministry together
with a secticn of the Public Schools Act referred to therein

is attached for your information.

As stated in the correspondence, all municipalities within the
School District must conduct their elections on a biennial basis.

We would appreciate your comments as to the feasibility of
holding biennial elections for both members of Council and
representatives to the School Board. ;
