Terrace Council news briefs Construction activity in Terrace during 1986 continues to outperform last year’s levels by more than three-to-one, ac- cording to the municipal building inspector’s report for July. During the month 15 new per- mits were issued for a total value of $414,720. The figures are distorted by the RCMP building project, valued at slight- ly more than $2 million, but even after deducting that amount the total permit value remains 50 percent higher than at this time last year. Industrial permits have been issued for $322,920 this year; up dramatically from $18,800 in 1985 largely due to the addition of a log infeeder and de- barker at Sawmills. New housing is more than double last year’s value at $535,600, but commercial con- struction is down at $558,700. For the year to ~ date, 90 building permits had been issued by the city as of the end of July, compared to 92 at the end of July 1985.
