Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution discussion was held on the use of meters for '‘farms' and Alderman Ranger expressed the opinion that residential taxpayers should not have to subsidize "farms" and that, as stated in the By-law, 'farms' should be charged commercial rates. Alderman Traboulay asked for clarification on the existing water rate billing system and suggested that the By-law be amended to have premises classified as a 'farm' put on a flat water rate of $5.00 per moath. Moved -by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That By-law No. 1633 be amended sc as to remove the provisions that charge premises classified as a 'farm' pursuant to the provisions of Section 26 of the Assessment Act commercial water rates; AND THAT 'farms' be charged the regular residential flat rate of $5.00 per month. Carried. Aldermen Thompson and Ranger voted against the resolution. The question was then called on the motion of Aldermen Ranger and Thompson for first reading of By-law No. 1633.
