How Should Microfilm Be Stored? Our cameras use a silver halide film. This film has excellent resolution and print-making capability. Unfortunately, silver halide film is relatively prone to scratching and other physical damage. a a The accepted method for operating with microfilm is to make diazo film copies from the silver halide film. This serves two purposes: 1) The diazo is a tough film suitable for everyday use, and, 2) The silver halide original can be placed in a remote archive. canes ~ The original film, after proper verification for authenticity and accuracy, will be securely stored away from the area of work use. This arrangement gives the department a secure film, available to recreate new diazos if working copies are damaged, lost, or destroyed. The City has twelve safe deposit boxes (6" X 10" X 24") at a local bank that can amply meet the requirements of a microtilm archive. Listed below are those who have access to these deposit boxes: Jack Huffman, City Manager Ron Whitehead, Assistant City Manager/ Administration Ralph Ellis, Assistant City } Manager/Finance Andy McCuistion, Business Administrator Fred Robinson, Microfilm Coordinator
