Mabbett indicated that although he was in agreement with the rental fee
to be charged, he did not feel that the extra unreserved spaces should
be made available to the public, that is it should be either a reserved
lot or a public lot. Alderman Keryluk suggested that a decision in this
regard was premature at this time and Alderman Ranger expressed the
opinion that a trial period as ‘reserved parking only' should be set to
determine the number of people that are willing to pay for a reserved
stall, and further that the fund must now be replenished in order to

provide funds for future developments. Alderman Thompson noted that

any agreements with Developers in which the City provides a number of
rentai public parking spaces are not specific in designating the exact
location of these spaces, only that there are spaces availabie in City~
owned parking lots. Alderman Traboulay suggested that in view of the

new library opening, the 33 parking spaces should remain available to

the public at no charge for one year.

That the spaces in the parking lot at 2274 Wilson Avenue be made

available on a reserved basis for a rental fee of $10.00 per month.

Interest on
prepaid taxes

interest rates payable on prepaid taxes and recommending that the appropriate

By-law be amended to provide for an increase to a rate of 9.5% for the

1977 Taxation year.

That the recommendation of the Finance Committee, October 7th, 1976
that the By-law be increased to provide for an interest rate of 9.5% to

be paid on prepaid taxes for the 1977 taxation year, be approved.
