THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM Igor Zahynacz DATE: June 18, 1992 City Engineer Ike De Boer PROJECT: 413 Project/Traffic Technician SUBJECT: Water Extension To Coquitlam Lincoln/Devon Area RECOMMENDATION Turn down request to extend water supply to Lincoln/Devon area north of Laurier, BACKGROUND A letter of request was written by the District of Coquitlam to increase the amount of water to the area north of Laurier east of Fremont. This area is currently served by a 50mm main feeding approx. 10 houses on the north side of Lincoln. The main is connected to the City main at the corner of Lincoln and Fremont and is fed through a City water meter. The District has noted that the main requires replacement due-to. the deteriorating condition and will be replacing with. a larger Size to accommadate all of the parcels in the area south of the De Boville Slough. REQUIRED UPGRADIN As part of the Capital Works Projects for this year, upgrading the water main on Devon from Prairie to Lincoln is scheduled to commence in 1992. (See attached figure for location) The main will be upsized to a 200mm from it's current size of 75mm. Upgrading is required to improve supply of fire flows and domestic usage for existing and future growth in the northeast area. . . Dayton and Knight (consultant for the City) is designing the upgrading with the intention it service City propert: If the main were to be extended to the District! Ethe would. need to be increased to at least 300mm.
