Grenager, 1683 Brant Avenue, Valley Outdoor Association would like to take a pro-active stance and would like to protect the island but opposed an RS-3 Zone. Mr. M. Sather, Maple Ridge Alouette Field Naturalists would like to see the Island remain a natural area. Mr. K. Bell, Vancouver Natural History Society would like to see the Island remain in its natural state and would ask Council to use Section 981 and hold putting a zone on the property. Mr. Bell also suggested that Canadian Forest Products donate the Island as a green area. Mr. K. Keller, Langley, Fraser River Coalition would like to go on record as being opposed to the zoning amendment for the same reasons stated earlier this evening. Mr. J. Chanie, 1619 Scarbourgh Crescent stated his surprise that Council would zone the Island so quickly. Mr. S. Macdougall, Maple Ridge stated that when Governor James Douglas ordered the survay of lands, Douglas Island was the first to be surveyed as it was felt development would not take place.
