Brown Director of Community Planning SUBJECT: Fraser River Estuary Study OS want ee RECOMMENDATION: That the Fraser River Estuary Management Programme be advised that the City of Port Coquititam finds the Proposed water use: designations to be acceptable, with the following exceptions. . COMMENTS: The Fraser River Estuary Management Committee are preparing a kind of Zoning Map for governing use of the river (including Pitt River) and its foreshore. In preparing this map, they are requesting comments from the City about acceptability of the designations. Comments about the acceptability of the designations and thelr conformance with the City's Official Community Plan are as fol lows: 1. The recreational designation of the foreshore, dike path conforms with the City's Official Communtty Plan designation. It should be noted, the City wants continuous access maintained along the length of the dike. Log storage designation for the river its considered acceptable as an ftnterim use. In the long tearm, dry land storage Is preferred. The reason for this Is that other higher uses are preferred, fe. industry and recreation. Industry is the proposed future use of lands beside the Pitt River south of Lougheed Highway to Broadway. The City wishes to have this upland designation reflected in the water use designation. Coast Meridian Barge Landing is shown as an underdetermined use. Following the City's Intentions as noted In 3 above, the landing should be designated Industrial.
