as COUR y JAN 8 1973 Mayor and Council January 5th, 1979 L.D. Pollock City Administrator Re: 1979 May Day At the last meeting of the May Day Committee, the group resolved to ask the City for approval of a $20,000. Budget for the 1979 May Day. Last year the Committee had a Budget of $17,000. although they did not spend that amount. The Recreation Committee have included $17,000. in the 1979 Provisional Budget for May Day. I believe the main reason for the May Day Committee's request is that they feel that they have to employ full-time help to organize May Day and therefore their salary costs will be higher. This would be similar to prior years when a Co-ordinator was employed. I do not have any detail supporting the request for $20,000. Budget, however, if the Council would give the matter consideration and set a figure for 1979, perhaps the Leisure Activities can deal with the May Day Committee on the detail behind the Budget and also the employment of the Co-ordinator or paid help. For Council's information, the 1978 Budget was $17,000. of which $13,179. was spent and in addition, $4,785. was received from the Province for the Captain Cook Grant. In 1977, $20,000. was budgeted and $18,764. was spent. nao 3% a a L.D. Pollock
