/8. March 15th, 1976 Leisure Act.Com. From the Leisure Activities Committee, March llth, 1976, referring '76 Prov. Budget- ; Indoor Rec. to a proposal adopted by the Council in 1975 for subsidization of Parks Facilities and Recreation whereby park and field facilities would be subsidized 100%, outdoor pool facilities by 75%, and indoor facilities by 50%, and submitting for consideration the 1976 provisional budget for indoor facilities. It was noted on Page 1 of the report that the recommended 1975 rate for Senior "A" Lacrosse practices should be $11.50 instead of $10.50, and that on Page 2, (a) Subsidized rental charge (1975 rate) should be $65.00 with the 16% increase being $10.40 while (b) Straight Rental Charge (1975 rate) should: be $110.00 with the 16% increase being $17.60, which were shown in reverse order in the report, and it was generally agreed that the necessary corrections be made. Alderman Laking commented that the Robert Hope Pool costs the City money when it is open for School purposes only; however, Alderman Ranger pointed out that the schools have to make plans for the coming year and that he felt a commitment had been made to the schools in that area to open the Robert Hope Pool for their swim programmes. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the increased rental rates for indoor recreational facilities proposed for the 1976 Provisional Budget as set Forth in a report from the Leisure Activities Committee, March lith, 1976, be adopted, Carried. Alderman Laking voted against the resolution. Alderman Laking stated his concern that the Lounge at the Hyde Creek Centre is not being used for the purpose first intended - namely, a teen drop-in centre and the Recreation Director advised that it is still used for. that purpose on 3 nights a week; also, the Mary Hill and George Pearkes Junior Secondary Schools provide facilities for a teen drop-in centre one night a week each; however, Alderman Laking stated he felt the matter should have come to Council for discussion before any change was made in that regard.
