TO: Mayor and Council DATE: January 26, 1973 FROM: L.D. Pollock, City Administrator 1. R.C.M.P. Manpower Inspector Young asked me to obtain confirmation from the Council that we will accept the addition of three men to the 1973-1974 Police Contract. This was the number of men that was requested by Council in the discussion with the Officer Commanding and his submission to Ottawa last year made this request. The Federal Government now require confirmation from the municipality before adding the men. The new contract will commence on April Ist however it is not likely that we will get the men all at once and as you know, we do not get charged for the additional men until they arrive on the job. During 1972-1973 we were under contract for 19 2/3 men however during the year there was a transfer of the 2/3 charge to the District's contract with the arrangement that we would pay them direct for our 2/3 portion, that we were, therefore, officially under contract for 19 men. It is my understanding that the three men being requested at this time will take our total number under contract to 22. Our provisional budget this year provided for an additional three men. It should also be noted that our contract is flexible and Wy manpower can be added or deleted at any time. ah} \ ‘A If Council is in agreement a resolution should be passed authorizing the additional three men to the R.C.M.P. Contract. 2. Recreation Director's Position Before filling this position, which was left vacant in late 1972 with the resignation of Clyde Griffith, Council asked for a review of the organizational structure in the Recreation Department and a report from myself recommending any changes necessary and recommending a person to fill the position. After reviewing the organizational structure and the previous position that was established for the Parks and Recreation Director I would recommend a slight revision in the job description applicable to this
