With thanks to Meil Forrest at HSCAD (1989), the following is a recipe for
SPOOSE: the Ceramic Miracle Building Adhesive/Repair Adhesive for leatherhard amd green ware.

Spoore is a very affective ceramic adhesive that will glue wet to wet clay, leatherhard to leatherhard clay or
combinations. It permits the construction of larger pieces, as one can build with large, stiff, leatherhard
slabs, Spooze bas minimal shrinkage because vinegar is used instead of water (therefore good for green ware
repairs also). The sticky sweet syrup is the binder which drys strong and provides excellent green strength.
Spoora viscosity can be adjusted by altering the ratio of syrup to vinegar, and can therefore be used for

Varlous purposes.

Recipe: This formula is for a large yoqurt container.

Cone 04 Low Pire Cone S10 High Fire
-Your clay bedy in dry powder “Your clay body in dry powder
(from bags or pulverized clay) 3/4 of yoqurt container full

3/4 of container full.
~S0da ash (sodium carbonate) 1 tsp. ~Hephaline Syenite or Talc, 1 tsp.

=[orm syrup, or any other cheap, ~Corn syrup or equiv.
thick sugar syrup.

-White vinegar “White yinegar
Mix: Clay body and Soda Ash together;

Add syrup to make a thick, viscous mixture;
Add yinecar to make the paste of desired consistency (thick or thin).

Hotes: 1. Spoore fires darker than the original clay body, because of the additions ef flax (Soda
Ash}.
2. This aixture attracts Fruit flies!
