a permanent basis inthe educational
process. To define and ensure a
place for the parent in that process
is essential if the school is to realize
its mission.

Tie establishment of the
Francophone Education
Authority (FEA) in January 1996
gave an essential tool to ensure the

future development ofthe community.

In fact since the implementation the
Francophones are able to control
their education system. This way they
will be able to contribute efficiently
to the development of a quality of
education for the specific needs of
theirchildren, mostly where language
and culture are concerned.

The parents participation is also
essential if we want to build a
partnership around the
Francophone school at the local
and provincial levels. This
partnership is necessary to realize
an educational project at the
Francophone school level and
through this project the school will
be able to realize its mission. This
type of project consists in identifying
the foundation of the school, in
determining its goals and objectives;

A wide consultation made last Fall
by the Francophone Education
Authority helped to identify the main
components that will help in the
delivery of a quality of education to
Francophone children. Among these

see it in action and evaluate it, all
this with the participation of all
partners concerned.

The definition of the parent’s role in
the educational process isa crucial
step in the setting process of the
Francophone school governance.
The success of this beautiful project
resides mostly in the commitment of
parents as well as a sense of
belonging towards the Francophone
Education Authority.

The present situation enable us to
be creative and innovative in the
definition of structures and
mechanisms by the FEA.
