Trafic Improvemans Wood:
Davies/Hastings Area

That after the Min. ‘ry of Transportation & Highways have installed split phase timing for
the traffic light at <stwood and Lougheed Highway, Council approve;

a) The removal of a portion of the traffic median at Kitchener and Woodland so that
eastbound traffic on Kitchener can turn north onto Woodland.

b) The removal of the stop signs for northbound traffic and southbound traffic at
Hastings and Kitchener.

¢) The removal of the concrete barrier at Murchie, south of Patricia.

2. That the Engineering Department be directed to prepare Engineering Drawings for
sidewalk and road improvements on Patricia between Woodland and Hastings, on
Hastings between Patricia and Davies, and on Davies between Hastings and Westwood.

Minutes of the Public Works/Traffic Meeting of April 15, 1992 containing comments
from delegations from Kitchener/Davies/Larking areas.

Memo from the City Engineer to the Public Works/Traffic Committee dated April 13,
1992 regarding background information on the Woodland/Hastings area traffic.

The traffic island installed in February on Kitchener and Woodland has reduced the peak
afternoon traffic through Patricia/Hastings by approximately ten to twenty percent; however, the
following problems have been created:

1, The barrier blocks direct access by emergency vehicles and reduces response time.
