BRENT WEBB looks on ‘while Dave Materi uses a 21st century. device to put to- gether a first century market stall as the Terrace Alliance Church gets ready to pres- ent a walk- -through tour of Bethlehem this week. Take a walk back | in time to first. century Bethlehem -; “A LOCAL ‘church is transforming itself i into the Bethléhem village of the first century by. drawing upon the skills and imaginations of its: members. “is taken: weeks -to plan and assemble . what’ will be a walk-through featuring vari- ous aspects of village life all located within the Terrace Alliance Church. There’s’ be a bustling marketplace, a playground and a gathering place amongst other stops. The marketplace will feature traditional Jewish baking and give pedestrians a chance to make crafts and watch first-century char- acters in action, ' The playground will provide the op- portunity to enjoy g ames from 2,000 years ago and there'll be carols in a gathering place. “How many people? I'd say between 35 and 40,” says Kirsten Tabert who has steered the project through from the start. “There'll be plenty of opportunity for in- teraction from those who come,” she says. G ; The idea was. adapted from a! ‘vacation bible school program. “We thought about it, and decided to make it fit into-a Christmas event and pres: | ent it over two days,” says Tabert. “Our hope. is this’ is something all fami- ~f _ lies can enjoy.” There’s no charge for admission but do- nations are welcome and theyll be going toward local resident Heather Bellamy. who now works with widows and orphans in Af- ghanistan. Bellamy was home on furlough in 1 the fall and returned to Afg ghanistan the first week of December. The Bethlehem Village’s first night is Dec. 22 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and its second night is from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Portions of the village experience will also. be featured at the Alliance church’s Christmas Eve service which takes place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Terrace Alliance Church i is located at 4923 Agar Ave. ny The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, December 20, 2006 - C3 1-800-561-7707 109-4526 Greig Ave,, Terrace 1700-Nalabila Biv, Kitimat, B.C, - friends, we wish you and yours best wishes for a season that’s filled with delights.
