C.I.P. Coatinuing Education Workshop

RECOMMENDATION:

That Ms. Janet Lee, Planner, be authorized to attend the 'Re-Planning the
Urban Community" Workshop, scheduled for July 2 - 4, 1993 in Victoria, and
that related expenses estimated at $600.00 be funded by the City of Port
Coquitlam.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:

An urban design workshop entitled, "Re-Planning the Urban Community" is

being held from July 2 to 4, 1993 in Victoria. The workshop is being
sponsored by the Canadian Institute of Planners and will bring together
professional planners from across the country who have an interest in urban
design.

The workshop will examine emerging urban design trends, principles and
techniques and their practical application by planners. The topic is of
interest to the Planning Department, as the department is responsible for the
creation and enforcement of urban design guidelines in the City.

As this workshop is valuable in enhancing staff skills and knowledge, it
is recommended that Ms. Lee be authorized to attend. The registration fee is
$481.50, which includes accommodation and most meals. There is sufficient
funds in the Planning Administration account.
