Eng., Acting City Engineer SUBJECT: Clean up of City property southwest of G.V.H.C. Housing Development on Gately Avenue RECOMMENDATIONS : 1. Gates and "No dumping, trespassing or motorized vehicles" signs be installed at the south ends of Ticehurst and Burieigh road allowances. 2. The piles of debris found dumped at several areas within this parce! of City property be hauled away. The dead branches and +rees within this parce’ of City property be stockpiled, in the interim, in an area to be selected by the Fire Chief and subsequently burned as soon as possible atter October 15, 1984, The astimated cost of $1500 to implement items 1 to 3 above be funded from the 1984 Unallocated Public Works Capital Account. The underbrush located along approximately 50 meters of the west bank of the Coquitlam River south of the McAllister Footbridge be cleared by the Parks Department with funds budgeted in 1984 for such purposes in thet Department. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS : On August 20, 1984, Mr. Birchmore met Mayor Traboulay on behalf of the local residents to present the problems which currently exist along the west bank of the Coquittam River south of the McAllister pedestrian bridge and also within the City property southwest of G.V.H.C. Housing Development on Gately Avenue. Mr. Birchmore prepared 4 list of items which he is looking towards the City for assistance... In reviewing this list, His Worship assigned the following items to the works and Services Committee for investigation ot the extent of the problems and subsequently report back to Councli with recommendations (other items were assigned to the Parks and Recreation Committee) : 1. Area is 1ittered with all types of debris dumped by the public. 2. Piles of dead branches and trees are & potential fire hazard. 3, Noisy motorcyclists are disturbing local residents. along the river bank harbours undesirables and prevents adequate supervision of chiidren playing in this area. 4, The ungerbrush 49
