CHAIS SCHULTZ, 13, of the Terrace and District Credit Union team gets set to unleash a powerful pitch in a game against league leaders Speedee Printers. The game was one of many played at this year's Junior Annual Tournament in Terrace June 21-23, SARAH A. ZIMMERMAN PHOTO Junior ball season wraps up THE AN- NUAL Ju- nior Tour- nament, put on by Terrace Minor Baseball taok place June 21- 23, This season the tour- nament was held after the league playoffs in order to ac- commodate an out-of-town team from Burns Lake. The first game June 21 saw local teams Speedee Printers and Kinsmen go head to head. Speedee was up 5-2 after the opening inning and never looked back, winning the contest by a score of 11-6. Speedee returned to the field the next morning to face Terrace and District Cre- dit Union (T.D,C.U.) and the short amount of rest showed early in this match-up as T.D.C.U. got out to an early lead of 9-1 after four innings. The Credit Union scored two more in the top of the fifth to take a 10-run lead, but in the bottom of that inning Speedee tallied with five runs to cut the lead in half. Nevertheless, Speedee ended up coming short as they fell to T.D.C.U, by a score of 13-9. Al noon, visitor Burns Lake faced Kinsmen. The game was a close affair, with Burns Lake up 9-7 after four innings. AT THE DIAMOND TYLER NOBLE @ Batter up A FARKO team member steps up to the plate in a game against All West Glass June 22. The Bambino division of Terraca Minor Baseball held their year and tournament here June 22-24, SARAH A, ZIMMERMAN PHOTO Bul Kinsmen cut the lead to 9-8 in the fifth and took full control in the sixth with a five-run effort, Kinsmen shut down Burns Lake in the last three innings as the team held on to win the game 13-9. The afternoon of June 22 saw Kinsmen play part two of a double-header, this lime facing Terrace & District Credit Union. Kinsmen’s momentum clearly carried into this match-up, as they had no trouble taking T.D.C.U. in a 20-9 decision. The final game on Saturday was be- tween Speedee Printers and Burns Lake. Speedee had few problems in this one, and took the game by 11-3 score. The Sunday morning game was a criti- cal match-up. If Burns Lake were a spoiler and beat T.D.C.U., then Speedee and Kinsmen would automatically be in the final with two-and-one records. But if T.D.C.U. was to win, it would force a three-way tie for the top two spots and send Burns Lake home with three losses. The Credit Union did win the game, by a score of 17-11, but didn’t team did nat score enough runs to win the runs for and against tie breaker. Thus, T.D.C.U, was also out, setting up a final between Spee- dee and Kinsmen. The final took place at noon and the last game of this year’s baseball season was not a close one. Speedee took a 10-1 lead after three innings and coasted to victory. The final score was 10-3, and with the victory Speedee captured the triple- crown, winning the regular season and playoffs, and the annual tournament.
