SUBJECT: B.C. Hydro Burrard Thermal Plant

RECOMMENDATION:

That a letter be forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Energy
Mines and Resources cbiecting to the use by B.C. Hydro and Power Authority
of the Burrard Thermal Plant to produce electricity for export.

Background and Comments:

l£ Council adopt the recommendation above it will be supporting
the position taken by the City of Port Moody as outlined in the letter
following. The Environmental Protection Committee concur with the statement

by Mayor Driscoll in his letter, "No power export must occur as 4 result of
burns of petrochemical fuels within this sensitive air basin.”
